Leting Go To Choose Joy
Many will tell you to let go, but they won't consider the hit part of it. Letting go is good and when we let go, we make space for peace in our hearts. Forget the past and focus on the present that's the best way to live a well fulfilled life.
We took pictures with our friends as we are growing up. Some positions really don't matter to some people. While to others, blocking thing is a real jam.
If it was you, I swear you would be angry too. But anger will not change what already happened at any moment.
Let me tell you a true story, back then in secondary school, we were one body as friends.
Whenever we wanted to achieve something, we did it together. No division, no hatred, and together we learn without argument. It's not about "me or you." Just "us." That's how we grow for a long time.
But I had a secret problem I never shared. I have my reasons.
Every time we took a group picture, I would calculate our positions.
Why am I at the back? Why is my face like a black boy? Who pushed me?
I was always looking for something to blame. And that habit was stealing my joy.
Then came a day we decided to honor our corper, Mr. Adeboye from Yoruba land. Who came to serve with all his mind. He wanted us to grow. He motivated us, encouraged us to learn how to be focused with our responsibilities in our daily living as teenagers.
In short, he was intelligent, kind, and he taught us well and we decided to pay him back.
So we all contributed. Same amount. Same heart of joy to celebrate him.
We bought gifts for him so he would remember us in his good heart.
But on presentation day, I was blocked.
My own friend stood in front of me.
I paid the same money, but my hands were not on the gift in the picture.
I was seriously in the vexing mode as camera snap us sharp. My face failed me.
And the worst part? Nobody noticed my feelings. The world moved on and smiled to those who accepts it way.
For a long time, I regretted even being in that group picture.
But life taught me something:
You can either spend your life looking for errors, or you can choose to be happy.
Whether I appeared well in that picture or not, the people who decided to be happy were happy.
And the one who kept searching for what went wrong... remained unhappy.
Here’s the lesson I learned:
1. Not everything will go the way we planned. People will block you many times in your life success, but never give up. Life will cut you out of the frame sometimes, still not think it.
2. Your contribution still counts, even if no one sees it. God saw that you paid your dues. You tried your best. God saw your heart.
3. Joy is a choice. Chose joy always. You can stay vexed over one picture, or you can take 1000 other pictures smiling. It all in your hands.
4. Stop calculating at everything. The moment you stop looking for who to blame, you start seeing how far you can go in life.
I’ve learned to let go.
Because if I hold bitterness for every gift I didn’t hold properly, I will miss the gifts life is placing in my hands today.
So I choose joy.
Even if my own people didn’t see me then, God sees me now.
And I will not let one bad picture define my whole story in life because there 're huge opportunities out there.
Question for you today:
What "picture" are you still angry about?
What if you let it go... and chose joy instead?
There different life events that can come to us as pictures. Life can present itself as images of the mind. How you shape it and share it with others, determines your growth on life.
