The Death Dream That Made Me Think I Had Died, But I Woke Up Alive
Dreams have always been a mystery to humanity. For some, they are just imagination. For others, they are revelations, visions, or messages from the unseen world. I used to listen to people talk about death dreams until I experienced one myself. It was a short dream, but it left a memory I will never forget. Even today, anytime I remember it, it feels like I died before and I am living for the second time.
This is the story of the fearful death dream that made me think I was dead, only to wake up in shock that I was still alive.
What Does Dreaming About Your Own Death Really Mean?
Dreaming of death in a dream can mean a lot to an enlightened soul. But to a fearful mind, it can feel like a nightmare that would make someone run to different men of God for prayers.
In truth, most times in our lives, the weight we attach to a dream determines the meaning we give to it. Many dreams in the world never manifest, while many others come to pass without appearing a second time. Many dreamers are known to be seers, especially when they are connected with religion and serve as self-proclaimed prophets and prophetesses around the globe.
Psychologists believe that dreams are the language of the subconscious mind. They are a reflection of our fears, our hidden thoughts, and our daily struggles. Spiritual teachers believe that dreams can be a warning, a message, or a call for spiritual awakening.
This is why a death dream should not be ignored or feared blindly. It should be understood.
My Deadly Dream Experience And How It Happened
Let me share exactly how it happened, without adding or removing anything.
There was a night, in my dream, I became conscious of my spiritual self in the dream world. It was so real that I could feel my spirit separate from my body.
In the dream, I noticed I was inside my uncle's fenced house, and the gate was locked. I could not go out. Everywhere was silent.
Lo and behold! I turned my back and suddenly saw a gun pointed straight at my belly. Before I could shout or run, the trigger was pulled. The bullet entered my stomach.
I cried out in a loud voice and died instantly! I felt my heart stop. It was my heart, my real heart.
In that moment, I withheld my spirit. I saw myself going out from my body. I looked at myself and said in my inner mind, "So I am dead in silence!" It sounded so clear and accepted, as if I had finally agreed to it.
I was standing outside my body, looking at my body lying on the ground, unmoved. I said in my heart, "Oh! Is this how I left the earth?" I could sense my spirit speaking inside me like the real me.
I was out of my body, and a wave took me. I was gradually flying up with my back facing up, while my face was looking downward at my dead body in surprise. I was looking down at my lifeless body and feeling deep regrets about things I could not even remember clearly. In that moment, I truly thought it was real. I thought my journey on earth had ended.
Then and only then, I woke up.
My body and spirit were on the bed. My heart was beating very fast. I was sweating, soundless, and feeling sick. I was just thinking upon thinking in silence. I breathed deeply more than twice, trying to confirm that I was still alive.
Man! Hmm! It was a mark and a turning point. My spirit truly experienced death that night.
The Spiritual and Psychological Meaning of My Death Dream
After that experience, I began to research and reflect deeply. If you have gone through this kind of dream before, I understand you. It is a hard experience, and it shows you need to work on yourself spiritually and mentally.
Here is what I learned from my own experience:
1. It Was Not Physical Death, But Spiritual Awakening.
This dream was not telling me I would die physically. It was a sign that I was going through a spiritual awakening. It was reminding me that one day, we will all have an out-of-body experience. It woke up my spiritual eyes to understand that life is more than just the physical body.
2. It Was a Sign of Transformation.
In dream psychology, death often means the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. The gunshot to my belly, which is the center of emotion and fear, represented killing my old fearful self. My old habits, my old fears, and my old limitations were dying so that a new, stronger version of me could be born.
3. It Showed Me Regret Comes Too Late.
While I was looking down at my body, I felt regret for things I could not even remember. This taught me a powerful lesson. We should not wait until we think it is too late to do what matters. We must live intentionally now, love now, forgive now, and pursue our purpose now.
What This Dream Taught Me About Life
That death experience, though it happened in a dream, felt like a real heart attack. It was heart-fainting. It opened my spiritual eyes to understand that I am more than a conqueror.
It taught me three important lessons that I want to share with you:
First, you are more than your body. Your spirit is real and powerful. Make sure your spirit and mind do their work daily through meditation, prayer, and self-reflection. Otherwise, you are already dead while still alive.
Second, fear is a prison. Just as I was locked inside my uncle's fenced house in the dream, many of us are locked inside the fence of fear, doubt, and what people will say. You must break out of that fence.
Third, life is a second chance. Waking up from that dream felt like being given a second life. Every morning you wake up, you have been given a second chance to make things right. Do not waste it.
If you have ever had a fearful dream where you died and woke up, do not be afraid. It is not a curse. It is a wake-up call. It is a sign for you to go into deep spiritual work, to discover your inner abilities, and to prepare yourself for a higher purpose.
